Celebrating World Environment Day on 5 June. A female polar bear (Ursus maritimus) and its cub on dense drift ice in Hinlopen Strait, Svalbard. Both, mother and cub look well-fed and healthy since they obviously succeded reaching the northern drift ice in spring in due time. Here the mother is urging the young one to jump into the water.
